Day 40 Reporting – 2,024 Words/Day Process Log –15 Minutes

My energy started to drag this morning which is normal. I’m writing this post on a Friday morning and Fridays are slow. I used to question my life decisions on Thursdays, but since I’ve started this challenge, I haven’t done that. I suspect that this is now just the ebb and flow of this new schedule.

Well. I went back to my one-page rule. Y’all. The one-page rule rocks! I just told myself as I sat staring at my computer with the black brace on my right wrist, that I just needed to write 1 page. Because I spent the majority of my writing time staring into space or walking and thinking (I do some of my best thinking when I’m in motion even if I’m just pacing the length of a room), I didn’t have a lot of time to actually, well, write before I needed to shut down and head offf into my workday.

Side Note: Can I just comment here on the benefit of having a set deadline? Like, there’s a hard stop every weekday morning that forces me to accomplish something, anything.

Anyway, I wrote almost 3 pages on my current work in progress before I shut down. Good job, Rette!

I love handbags. I love luxury handbags. I don’t care about hair. I don’t care about clothes or cars or shoes. My thing is handbags. For me, they’re like art that is useful, and it’s not tied to my size. Whether I gain weight or lose weight, I can still rock a nice bag.

Anyway, I’m sitting there about to watch one of my favorite YouTubers on luxury handbags and I take a quick look at the length of the video – 18 minutes. I can write a page in 18 minutes. And I know my energy decreases as the day wears on. It’s why I purposely stuff my detail work in the beginning of the day.

It’s not a question of if zoning out to YouTube videos on handbags is a good use of my time. It is because it’s soemthing that I’m interested in and honestly if you live a boring life with no interests and passions, your work will reflect that. The question is when is it a good idea to do so? And the answer to that for me is after I’ve reached my word count for the day. Which I hadn’t. Which is why I turned off the YouTube video and wrote this.

Keep moving forward. Keep getting better.
