Day 44 Reporting – 2,024 Words/Day Process Log –Reduction in Screen Time

Since I quit yoga class, my right wrist stopped hurting. I must have been putting too much pressure on it during class combined with my increase in writing. The reasonable thing to do would be to, uh, I don’t know, actually do the modifications the teachers recommend. Being overweight, though, I always feel like I have something to prove in those classes – the yes, I can do it just like everyone else, when, in this body, at this size, it is not a good idea. When I drop some more pounds, I’ll consider going back. I enjoyed the class. The folks were nice.

Another day, another challenge. This time is with screen time. I’ve greatly reduced my social media usage to focus on true social activities such as reconnecting with friends and joining groups whose focus is to meet in real life. I still need, however, to reduce my screen time.

I feel like I’m in front of a screen most of the day and that’s accurate – between my morning writing session and my job, I’m in front of screen working about 10 hours a day during the work week. Then there’s just regular phone time and reading. I love reading on my kindle. It’s so compact. But it’s still a screen.

Maybe I downplayed how beneficial gardening, and my local parks adventures were last year. They forced me out of the house and into the sun. I enjoyed them. I just didn’t find them necessary. Now I’m rethinking that and also thinking about ways of moving forward when it comes to improving as a writer, but to do it in a way that works with my energy levels.

As a fan of asking the right questions, here’s one – What no-screen/low energy activities can I do that will inch me toward my writing goals?

Keep moving forward. Keep getting better.
