Day 70 Reporting – 2,024 Words/Day Process Log – if I only had one year to write – what projects would I write?

I used to work for an employer where my position was, for all intents and purposes, yearly. Each year, the funding for my position was either in the budget or not. That led me to plan my life around that year with the question – If my position is not funded in the next year, what would I do?

Answering that one question affected my actions. For one, I bought some time into the retirement plan so I could be vested. That would give me at least some kind of pension even though it was tiny. I made sure I didn’t have any credit card debt. I stacked my annual leave because I knew that would get paid out if I left.

It wasn’t all responsible items, though. I also made sure that I took at least one cash trip a year using a combination of deals on airfare and a dedicated travel account that I had money from each paycheck automatically fund.

It was a good strategy and one that I think I should use for writing. So, here’s my question – if I only had one year to write – what projects would I write? Using that metric, I will not be participating in the wonderful Dramatists Guild program of writing a play in a month in April.

Writing a musical is on my creative bucket list, but if I only had one project to write, it would be writing in my world of Nzingha. The good thing, though, is that the more I write, the more material I’ll have available to adapt into a play or even a musical if I want to in the future.

Keep moving forward. Keep getting better.
