Well, I’ve set up my done calendar for the quarter. I tape a calendar on the back of my bedroom door. I have two of them – one for my health and one for my writing.
I’ve pretty much gotten my health done calendar set. I track 3 categories – sleep, tracking calories, and exercise. For sleep, I get a mini sticker if I sleep over 7 hours. For calories, if I track calories, I get a mini sticker. Any exercise earns me a sticker. Any event with people – dance class, hiking – earns a big sticker. Mental health and community are important.
When it comes to my health, I am certainly moving like a turtle, but I keep moving forward. Originally, I only gave myself a sticker when I ate under my calorie goal. That didn’t work for me. So, I changed to giving myself a sticker if I tracked my calories that day. THAT worked. For exercise, any sustained exercise over 10 minutes earns a sticker.
Since this worked so well for me when it comes to my health, I decided to do the same with writing except I’m still having a hard time nailing down the categories. Right now my categories are play, short story, and novel. Each writing session = a mini sticker.
Will this work? I have no idea. Oh. I also a big sticker for each story submission. That way I can look at the calendar and see how I’m doing.
